A fantastic day out starts with a trip to the
seaside before getting back to nature. Then onwards to a
traditional market town and castle and then rounding off the day
with a spot of retail therapy.
Stop 1 - Porthcawl (CF36 3DT)
A favourite with generations of holidaymakers,
pedestrian town centre and promenade with scenic views of the sandy
beaches and sea. The Waverley Paddle steamer sails in the
summer to various destinations along the coast. The Grand Pavilion
has a wide selection of popular shows on during the year.
Stop 2 - Kenfig National Nature Reserve (CF33

Kenfig Pool, Glamorgan's
largest natural lake, is set on edge of this beautiful sand dune
nature reserve. It has some of the finest wildlife habitats in
Wales with wild orchids, butterflies and birds. Visitor centre and
small shop on site
Stop 3 - Bridgend
(CF31 4WB)

streets, crammed with interesting local shops and restaurants.
Attractions in the area include the castles at Newcastle and Ogmore
and the Ewenny Pottery and Craft Centre.

(CF35 6BH)
Once an important Norman power base, it
withstood a siege by Owain Glyndwr in 1404, and abandoned at the

gatehouse, tall imposing towers and a curtain wall.
